Tucked away near the bayous of South Louisiana, in the close-knit community of Chackbay, there exists a fun-filled festival like no other around! My name is Courtney Alexis Troxclair, and I am so proud to represent this incredible community as Miss Louisiana Gumbo Festival XLIV! A sophomore majoring in Psychology/Pre-Law at Nicholls State University, I am the daughter of Allen and Suzanne Troxclair of Thibodaux. I have two brothers-Benton, 21, and Dexter, 15. Benton and I are both graduates of Edward Douglas White Catholic High School in Thibodaux, and Dexter is currently a sophomore there. At E. D. White, I was a cheerleader for four years, as well as a member of the 3-year state championship gymnastics team, the 2-year state championship cross country team, the track team, the soccer team, and the 4-H Club.
Currently at Nicholls State, I am an active member of Delta Zeta Sorority. Our sorority works to serve the larger community through our support of the Starkey Hearing Foundation, delivering the gift of hearing worldwide to thousands of people in need each year. Delta Zeta also supports the Painted Turtle, a summer camp for children who are faced with life-threatening and chronic illnesses who would not have the opportunity to attend camp otherwise due to their illnesses. I also serve as a Resident Assistant at Nicholls State University, assisting fellow college students and leading fun activities in Calecas Residence Hall. While not working or participating in university activities, I enjoy running, reading, volunteering in my community, and spending time with my friends and family.
I am honored to represent such an important group of community members that make up this incredible organization. Please join me in supporting our local volunteer fire department October 9th, 10th, and 11th at the 2015 Louisiana Gumbo Festival! Let’s stir up a good time!
